Covanta Energy and Reusable Energy
Covanta has worked with Hammond Electric since 2002. Covanta turned to Hammond Electric for its expertise when installing a 1.6mw landfill gas generator to recover methane from a landfill to generate reusable electrical energy. The Hammond team wired a 5kv generator that transformed the power up to 23kv to the outgoing utility grid. Components of the project include slab and conduit work, and wiring the following: transformed and ground resistors, grounding grids, paralleling switch gear and instrumentation controls. The Hammond team worked closely with the Covanta Engineering and Operations Group on relaying equipment for over-current protection.
